The Promises
The Fifteen Promises
Traditionally attributed to Our Lady

A well-known list of fifteen promises is attributed by tradition to the Virgin Mary, given to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche for those who pray the Rosary faithfully. The list is linked to Alan's writings, but its exact origin is uncertain. These promises are not Church dogma, nor part of public revelation; they belong to popular devotion and are best read as an encouragement to confident, persevering prayer.

1. Whoever faithfully serves me by the Rosary shall receive signal graces. 2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all who pray the Rosary. 3. The Rosary shall be a strong armour against hell; it will destroy vice, lessen sin and overcome heresy. 4. It will make virtue and good works flourish and obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God. 5. Whoever entrusts himself to me through the Rosary shall not perish.

6. Whoever prays the Rosary devoutly, meditating on its mysteries, shall not be overcome by misfortune; the sinner shall be converted, and the just shall persevere in grace. 7. Those truly devoted to the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church. 8. They shall have, in life and in death, the light of God and the fullness of his graces. 9. I shall deliver from purgatory those devoted to the Rosary. 10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.

11. You shall obtain all that you ask of me by the Rosary. 12. Those who spread the Rosary shall be helped by me in all their needs. 13. I have obtained from my Son that all members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have the whole court of heaven as their intercessors in life and at death. 14. Those who pray my Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. 15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination. (Traditional wording, abridged.)
